Important in the Salland region

Deventer Hospital

As a medium-sized hospital, the Deventer Hospital plays an important role in the Salland region. Fast access, quality, safety, trust and personal attention are central to the hospital. About 2500 people work there. The hospital has 267 beds in the clinic, 73 beds for day treatment and 12 beds in Intensive Care (IC).

The right information, at the right time, with the right stakeholders

The hospital works with software from AFAS Profit, HIX, MedEye and Vidaví. In other words, a wide variety of information sources about FTE deployment, production, protocols and finance. For the Finance, Control & Information (FC&I) department it was quite a challenge to transform this data into usable management information. Mark Klein Koerkamp, responsible for the FC&I department: “When I arrived here three years ago, I concluded that the management information we provided was on the meager side.

Qlik Sense is spreading like wildfire across the organization

“Our goal is to replace all Excel reporting with Qlik Sense, resulting in a single source of truth for the entire hospital.”

On the one hand, I saw a team that was extremely proud of their performance that had just been delivered, opening up the data with a data warehouse. On the other hand, I saw that there was little communication with our internal customers, and that they did not really know what we were doing. This made me decide that the timely delivery of relevant management information to the right stakeholders would be one of my first spearheads in my new position. ”

To deliver this management information, Mark Klein Koerkamp opted for a structured approach. Digital consultancy ilionx was asked to make an analysis of the current state of affairs and to write a plan for where the hospital could be in 3 years.

Mark Klein Koerkamp: “Our information, as it is from the sources in our data warehouse, was fine. The problem was in the front-end. The data could not be made visually visible to the user, based on self-service. Flat data in cross-tables simply does not invite further (re)search.”
