New features in Qlik!
Q1
Since developments in the field of Qlik are moving fast, we would like to keep you informed of all new developments regarding Qlik products. Read this blog for all updates on the visuals and other functionalities of Qlik Cloud and Qlik Sense.
Qlik Cloud Analytics
Qlik continues to develop this SaaS variant of the well-known Qlik Sense. In recent months, a number of nice functionalities have been added and expanded;
- With the Custom Tenant Homepage you offer your users a better and more user-friendly experience in the Qlik Cloud platform. Based on collections of apps and visualizations you set up the Homepage (HUB) completely to the needs of your users. Every user gets to see the same start page and doesn't have to search for anything.
The roles and rights of users are taken into account here, so that one never sees content that is not accessible. It is also still possible for the user to create a personal start page in addition to this tenant home. - PDF export is now possible from Excel reports. Reports can also now be created based on published apps.
- Support for SAML identity providers
- New role for managing reloads in managed spaces.
- A set of new connectors for the Google platform and social media.
- Transparency option for background colors.
Qlik Sense Enterprise
The last release of Qlik Sense dates back to February. Nevertheless, this update is definitely worth it, if only for the visual enhancements;
Layout Container
The layout container is now available in Qlik Sense Enterprise. Various visualizations can be placed in this container, with or without grid. The graphs can overlap and be stacked. It is also possible to hide and show objects conditionally. All in all a versatile object, which is for example well suited for grouping graphs and building a 'dock' for your navigation or filters.
Pivot tables
In the November 2023 release we already saw a new table object with multiple possibilities (found in the custom objects). A new pivot table has now been added to this with additional features;
- Dimension headers
- Custom symbol for null values
- Column width options
- More sorting options
- Extensive styling options for fonts, background colors etc.
Styling options
Almost all visualizations now contain the Styling panel, in which you can visually adjust your object. For example, it is possible to adjust the colors and fonts of titles, axes or values, or to add a background image. A border and shadow option was also added in February. The filter panes have also received a styling upgrade. In them you can now specify different colors for selection states yourself.
After styling the first object with all these possibilities, you want to make sure that this is done consistently. With the new option to copy and paste styles between different objects, this is made very easy!
Window function
Finally, a script-technical update has been implemented in this release, namely the possibility to apply window functions. With the functions Window and WRank it is possible to apply aggregations in the load script, without losing granularity. In other words; performing aggregations during loading, without grouping the data.
